Kim & Matt’s Story: A Journey of Love, Success, and Giving Back

When Kim and Phil welcomed their twin boys, Nathan and James, they knew their lives would change. However, they didn’t anticipate the journey that lay ahead when both boys were diagnosed with autism.

As parents, they faced the challenges of finding effective therapies, inclusive environments and managing the emotional ups and downs. Their love for Nathan and James deepened alongside their determination to provide the best life possible.

Kim’s unexpected business success enabled access to cutting-edge treatments, but her heart ached for families lacking similar resources. With her marriage to Matt, they both recognized their responsibility and founded Martha’s Ranch Foundation, named after Kim’s great-aunt Martha, whose legacy of generosity inspired them. “Every child deserves a chance, regardless of their family’s financial situation,” Kim shares.

Matt adds, “We know the feeling of isolation. Martha’s Ranch says, ‘You’re not alone. We’re in this together.’”

Today, Martha’s Ranch Foundation is a supportive community where families can access resources, children can enjoy tailored activities, and connections can flourish. “Every new friendship reminds me why we started this foundation,” Kim says.

As they look to the future, Kim and Matt are committed to expanding the foundation’s reach. “This is our promise to the community—that together, we can create a world where every child with autism can thrive.” Through Martha’s Ranch Foundation, they share their hearts and belief in the power of community to change lives.

MARTHA'S STORY

A Legacy of Love and Inclusion

Martha Gustus was a remarkable woman whose life and legacy continue to touch the lives of many, especially those affected by autism. Born in the early 20th century, Martha lived a full and vibrant life, defying expectations until her passing at the age of 94. Her story is one of resilience, generosity, and unexpected impact.

Martha and her husband built their dream home as newlyweds, hoping to fill its second floor with the laughter of children. Though they were unable to have children of their own, Martha’s nurturing spirit found other ways to flourish. She poured her love into her community, her hobbies, and later, her great-nephews.
Well into her 90s, Martha remained active and independent. She continued to play golf, socialize with friends multiple times a week, and even drove her own car. Her zest for life was infectious, inspiring those around her to embrace each day with enthusiasm.

Martha’s connection to autism came through her great-nephews, Kim’s twin boys, Nathan and James. During family visits, Martha delighted in spending time with the boys, showing a natural understanding and acceptance that deeply touched Kim. Martha’s love for the twins was unconditional, seeing beyond their autism to the unique, wonderful individuals they were.

When Martha passed away, she left behind more than just memories. Her substantial bequest became the seed from which Martha’s Ranch Foundation would grow. Kim and Matt, inspired by Martha’s love and acceptance, saw an opportunity to create something truly special – a haven for families affected by autism.

The foundation, named in Martha’s honor, embodies her spirit of inclusivity and joy. It aims to provide families with the resources, support, and sense of community that Kim and Matt found so crucial in their own journey with autism. From educational workshops to fun family activities, Martha’s Ranch Foundation strives to create a place where families can find normalcy, adventure, and most importantly, understanding.

Martha’s legacy lives on through every child who finds acceptance at the ranch, every parent who discovers a supportive community, and every family that experiences the joy of inclusion. Her story reminds us that sometimes, the most profound impacts come from unexpected places, and that love – in all its forms – has the power to transform lives.

At Martha’s Ranch Foundation, we celebrate Martha’s life by continuing her legacy of love, acceptance, and community. We believe that, like Martha, every individual has the potential to make a lasting, positive impact on the world around them.
